The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand

Summary from Goodreads:

On Christmas Eve five years ago, Holly was visited by three ghosts who showed her how selfish and spoiled she’d become. They tried to convince her to mend her ways.

She didn’t.

And then she died.

Now she’s stuck working for the top-secret company Project Scrooge–as the latest Ghost of Christmas Past.

Every year, they save another miserly grouch. Every year, Holly stays frozen at seventeen while her family and friends go on living without her. So far, Holly’s afterlife has been miserable.

But this year, everything is about to change. . . .

I have read most of Cynthia Hand’s work and tend to really enjoy her contemporary YA adult titles. It took me a while but I finally picked up her Christmas novel, The Afterlife of Holly Chase.

My favorite aspect of the novel was the interesting plot. It was a great take on A Christmas Carol. The characters, like Holly, Stephanie and others were also well-written.

I did struggle to connect with the pacing and some aspects of the main plot. Overall, it was a quick and good read.

I recommend checking out this interesting YA novel. It was a quick and unique read.

3.5 Stars Out of 5 Stars.
