Review: Vow of Thieves (Dance of Thieves #2) by Mary E. Pearson

Summary from Goodreads:

Kazi and Jase have survived, stronger and more in love than ever. Their new life now lies before them―the Ballengers will be outlaws no longer, Tor’s Watch will be a kingdom, and the two of them will meet all challenges side by side, together at last.

But an ominous warning mars their journey back, and in their rush to return to Tor’s Watch, just outside the fortress walls, they are violently attacked and torn apart―and each is thrust into their own new hell.

Unsure whether the other is alive or dead, Kazi and Jase must keep their wits among their greatest enemies and unlikeliest allies. And all the while, Death watches and waits.

Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for this early copy! I was lucky enough to win this egalley. I went into this uncertain because I struggled with book one but I found myself completely engrossed in this world and with these great characters! It is a full 5 star read for me.

What I Liked:

Romance. I felt like Pearson managed to capture my romantically resistance heart this time around. I found myself almost in tears a few times because of what was happening with Kazi and Jase.

Characters. Kazi was amazing in this second book. I loved her in the first book as well but she shined in this one! I found myself emotionally invested in the novel because of how much I started to care for Kazi and Jase.

Action/Intensity/Plot. I flew through the novel because the pacing was well-done. It did not feel like any part of it dragged for me. I kept turning page after page because I needed to know what was going to happen to these characters.

Writing Style. This is the second series from Pearson that I’ve read and one of my favorite books by her. I’m becoming more and more a fan of her writing style with each new novel she writes. I found her prose beautiful and her characters well-written.

I recommend checking out this well-written and hard to put down duology!
